Warner Bros'. PS4 games to cost Rs. 2,499 each

The PlayStation 4 versions of Lego: Marvel Super Heroes and Injustice Gods Among Us: Ultimate Edition will be sold in India for Rs. 2,499 each.

This comes as a huge respite to Indian gamers who have recently learnt that first party PlayStation 4 titles will carry a hefty price tag of Rs. 3,999. EA games on the other hand will retail even higher at Rs. 4,499.

When quizzed about how they achieved such pricing, here's what Anand Khemani, CEO of Express Interactive told IGN India, "Gaming is now a well accepted form of entertainment culturally, and families are looking to get at least one console per home in India as well. In the consumer’s mind, Rs. 2,500 – Rs. 3,000 is an acceptable price point for games, which is why we worked hard with our publishers to get an SRP of Rs. 2,499 for both Injustice: Ultimate Edition and Lego Marvel Super heroes.

We strongly believe that the Indian market is about to take off big time with the arrival of next generation consoles. In our view, this market is capable of absorbing a million consoles per annum, but to get to that figure, correct pricing will play an extremely important role.

We are thankful that the publishers we work with value the Indian consumer and understand their spending power."

India ironically still hasn't been given a concrete PlayStation 4 release date yet, but we'll keep you updated.
